Rocio is a chartered chemical engineer with over nine years of experience in the waste and biomass industry. She joined Ricardo in October 2023, bringing expertise from her professional experience in the sector.

Rocio spent half of her career as a senior process engineer for a leading energy-from-waste operator in the UK, and the other half in consultancy, where she developed biorefinery projects to valorise waste and biomass into biofuels, materials, and energy. She has hands-on experience in waste management, with a particular focus on thermal processes and their decarbonisation for energy recovery.
